Great first experience. This is a French Basque Restaurant, the other 5 Basque Restaurants in Bakersfield are Spanish--so spicier. My husband loved the oxtail stew. You can taste how homemade everything is. Loved the Pico. Punch!! Will have to return for the steaks prepared over a fire. The patio which is at the entrance seemed like a fantastic place when the weather is nice.

Really good food, authentic basque dishes,steaks, seafood , good burguers, omg their garlic butter fried chicken Also banquet rooms to book your any occasion party’s, company meetings etc,,, awesome service, open its doors on 1969 out of town, and at this location on 1971, 100% recommended
Food was very good, service was okay. Atmosphere hasn't been updated since the 70s. My number 2 spot in Bakersfield for Basque Food. Nothing can ever hold a candle to Woolgrowers which I believe is number one compared to any other Basque restaurant I've ever had. Chalet Basque is 100 times better than Benjis. My main judgment of Basque food is first and foremost the pickled tongue and next is the rack of lamb, then how everything else is as in everything Basque restaurants serve before the entree. Thank you, not digging against Chalet, no real problems, just giving out my honest personal opinion.
This is the place if I have cravings for Cabbage soup. We always have it to go. Even they change ownership but the flavor still the same. The guy that took our order was nice. And the place is clean. I bet some food are delicious. And also the fried chicken was delicious. I'll order than next time Definitely will be back again.
Yesterday I went to try Chalet for the first time with my mom and we left with a full belly and happy hearts. The food was deliscious! I had never tried Basque food before but always had wanted to! The best part for me was the customer service though, Rafa and staff made me feel like a princess for my bday! All in all I highly recommend Chalet!
Had such a wonderful night at Chalet Basque with friends and family! Our server George was absolutely awesome, and the owners even came by to say hi before we left — such a personal touch. It’s amazing how, even though ownership has changed over the years, the food is still the star of the show. What an amazing experience! I booked a table for 19 people for a birthday celebration. The service was top notch! The staff was completely attentive and asked every step of the way to make sure everything went smoothly for my mom’s birthday. Food was great! I do not have one thing to critique. Thank you Chalet Basque for such a memorable night and such personal attentive service. Truly Impressed!
